About Independence Ave.
Independence Ave. maintains a searchable congressional database and develops plug-in web applications for advocacy and nonprofit lobbying organizations. We also host a small library of advocacy resources.
Background
Independence Ave. was created by Shawn Brown and Sarah Heminger in the summer of 2004. This site and its “Ajax” software are designed, maintained and developed by Shawn Brown. A special thanks goes to Andrew Dolan for numerous usability and implementation suggestions.
Nonprofit status
At this time, Independence Ave. is a private, volunteer foundation. We have a registered business name but we are not incorporated as a nonprofit organization. We will file for nonprofit status if this project changes hands or if our activities expand in ways that require us to seek funding through grants or charitable contributions.
